Christmas in July
My first Christmas Card for 2019 is a simple one. I used the new Christmas Stamp from Darkroom Door in combination with the Bird Life Stamp Set. In this set are a few birds and also a rosehip twig.
Mijn eerste kerstkaart voor 2019 is een eenvoudig kaartje. De kerstwens is een nieuwe stempel van Darkroom Door. Gecombineerd met de Bird Life set. In deze set zitten enkele vogeltjes, en een takje met rozenbottels.
Darkroom Door Small Stamp:
I stamped with black Archival Ink. The twig was colored with Distress Markers. For the bird I wanted a soft look, so I used pencils to color it.
Met zwarte Archival inkt gestempeld. Het takje kleurde ik met Distress Markers. Het vogeltje mocht er wat zachter uitzien, dus die kleurde ik met potloden.

From One Card To Another #26
A left over piece from a previous card was the start for today's card.
Met een strookje dat over was toen ik eerder deze kaart maakte begon ik de kaart van vandaag.
I stamped the saying with black Archival ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I used a white pen around the letters and balloon.
De wens gestempeld met zwarte Archival inkt en kleurloos geëmbosst. De letters en ballon omlijnd met een gelpen.
A large stencil and Distress Oxide inkpads were used to do the dots on a white card.
Met een grote stencil en Distress Oxide inkten stippen gezet op een witte kaart.

Bird Life
A 6" x 6" card for all occasions.
Een kaart van 15 x 5 cm, die voor veel gelegenheden kan dienen.
The stamps I used are from this Bird Life set.
Stempels gebruikt uit deze Bird Life set.
I started by inking a color-blocking background, using Distress Oxide Inkpads and the Small Rectangle Stencil Set from Darkroom Door. I stenciled another layer, using the Small Butterflies Stencil and the Arty Circles Stencil with Cracked Pistacchio Distress Oxide ink. I added a few words using the Wellbeing Stencil.
Next I did all the stamping with black Archival ink.
Eerst de blokken op de achtergrond gestencild met Distress Oxide inkten en de Rectangle Set van Darkroom Door. Bij de volgende laag gebruikte ik de Butterflies en Arty Circles stencil met Cracked Pistacchio Distress inkt. Ook enkele woorden uit de Wellbeing stencil kregen een plek op de kaart.
Daarna alles gestempeld met zwarte Archival inkt.
When I was finishing the card a few days later, I noticed that the words had faded, so I gave them another layer with Faded Jeans Distress Ink .
Enkele dagen later, toen ik de kaart wou afwerken, waren de woorden niet meer goed zichtbaar. Dus gaf ik ze een nieuw laagje met Faded Jeans Distress inkt, die donkerder is.
The birds were stamped onto white cardstock, cut out and glued in place. I made a cut in the bird bath, so I could place one bird in there.
De vogeltjes uit de stempelset met afgedrukt op wit papier, uitgeknipt en op de kaart geplakt. Een sneetje in het vogelbad gemaakt, zodat ik één vogel er in kon plaatsen

Sunday Scraps - 477
As usual on Sundays, I made something using scraps and left over pieces (see last photo).
Zoals gewoonlijk op zondag, maakte ik iets met restjes (zie laatste foto).
Darkroom Door Stamp Set:
I stamped the bird houses onto the scrap paper, and cut them out. No need to cut out around the twigs, just cut them off. I stamped some extra roofs, door, shutters, ... and colored them with Distress Markers.
De nestkastjes afgedrukt op de papierrestjes en uitgeknipt. De takjes mogen afgeknipt worden, tenzij je graag priegelwerk doet :) De dakjes, deur, luikjes, ... nogmaals gestempeld en met Distress Markers ingekleurd.
Before I glued the bird houses onto the 4" cards, I stamped the 'twig' bird houses onto the cards.
Vooraleer ik de nestkastjes op de kaartjes plakte, stempelde ik er eerst de 'twijg'nestkastjes op.
I stamped more twigs from the Bird Life stamp set, added blossoms using Distress Markers.
Words are from the Home Sweet Home stamp set.
Takjes uit de Bird Life stempelset erbij afgedrukt. Bloesems getekend met Distress Markers.
Tekststempels zijn uit de Home Sweet Home stempelset.

Black & White - 420
This week's black & white item is a tagbook.
Voor mijn zwart-wit reeks maakte ik deze week een labelboekje.
Nieuw uitgebrachte stempels van Darkroom Door gebruikt (voor de liefhebbers: ik zag ze al bij Leuke Stempels HIER)
I used a A4 sheet of Canson Bristol paper, scored and folded it to create the tags and the pockets at the bottom.
Een A4 vel Canson Bristol papier gebruikt. Rillijnen gemaakt, en het papier geplooid zodat er 4 labels ontstonden. Het onderste deel naar boven gevouwen. Zo vormden zich 4 vakjes waar je iets in kan wegstoppen.
I didn't want the frame of this Gerberas stamp showing up on this project, so I inked up the stamp through the oval stencil, to get a soft edge.
De rand van de Gerberas stempel wou ik vermijden in dit labelboekje, dus legde ik de ovale stencil op de stempel om hem te beïnkten, zo kreeg ik een afdruk met een zachte rand.
The Heart Stencil Set was used to trace a heart shape.
De Heart Stencil Set gebruikt om het hart te tekenen.
Here I used the pole from the Bird Houses set.
De paal van de Bird Houses set gebruikt hier.
The tags were finished off with a black rubber band, baker's twine, white ribbon and black jute.
De labels kregen bovenaan een zwart elastiekje, bakkerstouw, wit lint en zwart jute.

Birthday Candles
Another card I made for Darkroom Door, using the Candles stamp from the new release.
The gelprint background was made with the large Circles stencil from Darkroom Door. I stamped the Birthday Word Block stamp with Archival Ink Cornflower Blue. Black Archival ink was used to stamp the candles and to sponge the stars through a stencil. I used Distress Markers to color the candles.
Nog een verjaardagskaart gemaakt voor Darkroom Door met de nieuwe kaarsjesstempel. De gelprint op de achtergrond maakte ik met de grote Circles stencil. De woordblokstempel er overheen afgedrukt met Archival inkt Cornflower Blue. De kaarsjes met zwarte Archival inkt afgedrukt en met Distress Markers ingekleurd. Tenslotte nog enkele sterretjes gesponst met Archival inkt en de Starry Night stencil.

Spinner Card
Here's a spinner card I made for a little hero.
Een kaartje gemaakt voor een kleine held.
In slow motion.
The penguin was stamped with black Archival ink and colored with pencils.
Dies were used to cut the square and circle.
De pinguïn werd met zwarte Archival inkt afgedrukt en met potloden ingekleurd.
Stansen gebruikt om het vierkant en de cirkel uit te snijden.
I used an embossing folder on the front of the card. The same orange cardstock was used to cut another circle. I stamped the Dutch greeting and added circles and dots around it.
The circles were glued together, and attached to the card using a piece of dental floss.
Om het oranje kaartkarton te embossen gebruikte ik een Carabelle Studio embossingfolder. Een cirkel gesneden uit hetzelfde kaartkarton. Daar stempelde ik de groetjes stempel op, en tekende er rondjes en stippen omheen. Een stukje tandzijde gebruikt om tussen de cirkels te plakken, en aan de kaart te bevestigen.

Birthday Shaker Card
A good old shaker card today :)
To color the background I used Make Art Blendable Dye Inks. And I stamped with black Archival ink.
Nog eens een schudkaart gemaakt. Een achtergrond in 2 kleuren gesponst met Make Art Blendable Dye inkten. Alles gestempeld met zwarte Archival inkt.

The more Candles...
Here's a card I made for Darkroom Door, using the new Candles Eclectic stamp.
Een kaart gemaakt voor Darkroom Door met de nieuwe Candles stempel
Darkroom Door Eclectic Stamp:
I swiped these Blendable Dye inkpads across the paper to create a striped background. By overlapping the colors I got bright green and soft orange too.
Next I inked the Dots Background stamp from Darkroom Door with the same inks and stamped over the stripes.
De gestreepte achtergrond maakte ik met deze inkten, dwars over het papier gewreven met de inktkussens. Door de kleuren te laten overlappen ontstond er ook heldergroen en zacht oranje.
Daarna de Dots achtergrondstempel van Darkroom Door met dezelfde kleuren beïnkt en over de strepen afgedrukt.
To stamp a row of candles I used black Archival Ink. The candles were colored with Distress Markers, to make them stand out against the background.
Een rij kaarsen gestempeld met zwart Archival inkt. Daarna de kaarsjes ingekleurd met Distress Markers om ze beter te laten uitkomen tegen de achtergrond.
Words are from the Happy Birthday Sentiment Stamps. I used a small square die to shape the banner.
De tekst is een deel van de Happy Birthday Sentiment Stamps. Om de uiteinden van dit strookje te snijden gebruikte ik een kleine vierkante stans.

Color-blocking with Darkroom Door Stencil
Every now and then I like to do a project where I can use a lot of stamps :)
As soon as the new stencil Rectangle Set from Darkroom Door arrived, I knew I wanted to use it in my large Dina Wakley Media Journal to create colorful blocks.
Nu en dan vind ik het heerlijk om een iets te maken waar ik heel veel stempels bij kan gebruiken. Toen ik de nieuwe stencil Rectangle Set van Darkroom Door in mijn handen kreeg, wist ik meteen dat ik die in mijn groot Dina Wakley Media Journal wou gebruiken om een blokkenpatroon als achtergrond te maken.
To create the colorful grid I used 18 colors of Distress Oxide inks. I started with the rectangle in the center of each page, and worked around that one to fill the entire page.
Er kwamen 18 kleuren Distress Oxide inkt aan te pas om dit kleurrijk blokkenpatroon te maken. Ik begon telkens met een blok in het midden van de pagina, en kleurde daarna de blokken er omheen om heel de pagina te vullen.
I started stamping with black Archival ink on the page at the right, because it was nice and flat.
On a previous spread I had used tags and twine, so I was a bit worried about stamping on the left page since I couldn't use a stamping platform in a journal. I was able to temporarily remove the twine from the previous page, so the surface was less bumpy. I also put a cutting mat underneath the page, and used my trusty old stamp positioner when I had to restamp an image.
Omdat de rechter pagina mooi vlak was begon ik daar te stempelen met zwarte Archival inkt. Eerst de quote in het midden. Bij een vorige spread had ik labels en touwtjes gebruikt, waardoor de linker pagina erg hobbelig was. Enkele touwtjes kon ik tijdelijk verwijderen, maar het bleef vrij hobbelig. Een snijmat onder de pagina gelegd, en mijn gouwe ouwe stempelliniaal gebruikt als ik iets een 2de keer moest stempelen. Best spannend :)
The soft coloring was done with pencils. Love how it turned out against the colorful background.
Met potloden ingekleurd. Blij met de zachte kleuren tegen deze achtergrond.
As a finishing touch I used the Small Dots Stencil with a bright Archival ink.
Met een felle kleur Archival inkt en de Small Dots stencil hier en daar stippen gezet.
A few blocks were left blank, so the result wouldn't be too busy.
Toch ook enkele vakken niet bestempeld, omdat het anders te druk zou worden.
