Christmas 2018 - #1

 Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas Cards?  Here's my first one.

Is het nog te vroeg om al aan kerstkaarten te denken?  Dit is in ieder geval de eerste voor 2018.

I used a Darkroom Door stencil to sponge the stars with Versamark ink and heat embossed them.  The Christmas Sentiments were  also stamped and heat embossed.  I used several blue Distress Inks to sponge the background.  For the bird I used a blue and red Distress ink.

De sterren werden gemaakt door Versamark inkt te sponsen door een stencil, en met wit te embossen.  Ook de kerstteksten werden met wit geëmbosst.  Allerlei blauwe Distress inkten gebruikt om de achtergrond te sponsen.  Voor het vogeltje nam ik ook een rode Distress inkt erbij.

Photo Inspiration - Grevilleas

Sometimes a photo gives instant inspiration.  For this card inspiration came from this gorgeous photo by Robyn Wood.

Soms krijg je meteen inspiratie om een kaart te maken, bij het zien van een foto.  Voor deze kaart vond in inspiratie in deze prachtige foto van Robyn Wood.

 After I had heat embossed the white Grevilleas stamp I sponged the paper with Distress Inks.  Next I added the white circles using a stencil and gesso to get a bokeh effect.  I waited for the gesso to dry completely before I stamped with Shadow Grey Archival ink.
Eerst enkele Grevillea bloemen gestempeld met Versamark inkt, met wit poeder geëmbosst.  Daarna de achtergrond gesponst met Distress Inkt.  Voor het bokeh effect gebruikte ik een stencil en gesso met een ink blending tool.  De gesso liet ik goed drogen vooraleer met Shadow Grey Archival inkt de andere stempels uit de Grevilleas set af te drukken.

 The garden bird was stamped with black Archival ink, colored with Distress Paints and cut out.  I love to "messy color" these birds.
Het vogeltje werd met zwarte Archival inkt gestempeld, met Distress Paints ingekleurd, en daarna uitgeknipt.  Deze vogels kleur ik liefst nonchalant in, niet te netjes.

Flower on a Gel Print

The background on this card is a gel print, made with a mask by Birgit Koopsen.

De achtergrond op deze kaart is een gelprint, gemaakt met een mask van Birgit Koopsen.

The flower was stamped with Archival Ink Jet Black, and colored lightly with Dylusions Paints.

De bloem werd met zwarte Archival inkt gestempeld en lichtjes ingekleurd met Dylusions Paints.

Words are from Art De Fleur Vol 2 set, a favorite older set from Darkroom Door.

De tekst is een stempel uit de Art De Fleur Vol 2 set, een favoriete oudere set van Darkroom Door.

Love my little gel print journal :)  When I turned my pile of prints into a journal I had no idea that I would like it so much to work on the pages.  Here are two more pages.

Sunday Scraps - 431

Another tag pop-up card, made from scraps and left over pieces (see last photo in this blogpost).

Weer een label pop-up kaart, nu gemaakt met restjes (die je op de laatste foto kan zien).

Decorated with birds, a butterfly and flowers.

Versierd met vogels, een vlinder en bloemen.

I've cut an extra tag for a handwritten note.  It can be tucked inside the card, as shown on this picture.

Een extra labeltje gestanst om een wens op te schrijven.  Het kan binnenin de kaart weggestopt worden zoals je op de foto kan zien.

These cards are easy to create with a Karen Burniston die set.

Makkelijk te maken met een stansset van Karen Burniston.  Er komt geen meet- of paswerk bij kijken.

Black & White - 372

 This week's black & white card is a 1 layer card.

Deze week werd het een 1-laags zwart-wit kaartje.

 I used a die to add a decorative edge to the card.

Met een stans gaf ik de kaart een decoratieve rand.

I used a Karen Burniston die to cut the edge.  Notice that the card is larger than the die.  Makes the next steps easier.

Een stans van Karen Burniston gebruikt om de rand te snijden.  De kaart is langer dan de stans, dat maakt het makkelijker voor de volgende stappen.

 Turn the card and apply glue to the edge.

Keer de kaart om en breng lijm aan op de rand.

 Fold the card to glue the right hand edge together.  

Plooi de kaart dubbel om de rechter rand aan elkaar te plakken.

 Stamp the card front.  Easy, because the card stays closed.

Bestempel de kaart.  Dat gaat nu makkelijk omdat de kaart dicht blijft.

Cut off a strip at the top and bottom of the card.  The card can be opened now and both edges match perfectly.

Boven- en onderaan een strookje afsnijden.  De kaart kan nu geopend worden, en de randen passen perfect in elkaar.

Tag Pop-up Birthday Card

A pop-up tag card for a girl's birthday.

Voor een jarig meisje maakte ik deze pop-up labelkaart.

Not my usual quick & easy card, but I had fun making this.

Meestal zijn mijn kaarten snel en makkelijk te maken, deze vroeg wat meer tijd, maar was heel leuk om te maken.

Karen Burniston has some fun dies to create pop-up cards.  This set has lots of great little extra dies, such as hearts, bunting, paperclips, edges.

Karen Burniston heeft heel leuke stansen voor pop-up kaarten.  Deze set heeft bovendien veel toffe extra's, zoals de hartjes, vlaggetjes, paperclips, randjes.

I stamped Darkroom Door's Dots background stamp using Versamark ink, heat embossed with bright green embossing powder.

Op het label aan de voorzijde gebruikte ik de Dots achtergrondstempel van Darkroom Door met Versamark ikt en felgroen embossingpoeder.

Inside I used these Texture stamps on the labels, using Archival inks Potting Soil and Leaf Green.

Aan de binnenkant stempelde ik met deze Texture stempels en Archival inkten Potting Soil en Leaf Green.

To color the birds I used Distrees Paints.

Birdwatching - European Green Woodpecker

We love to watch the birds and wildlife in our garden.  A few days ago the green woodpecher returned, and brought his little one along to show him how to catch those delicious ants.

Wat is het toch leuk om de vogels in je eigen tuin gade te slaan.  Een paar dagen geleden zagen we opnieuw de groene specht.  Deze keer had hij zijn nakomeling meegebracht om hem te leren hoe hij zelf die heerlijke mieren kan vangen.

 Daddy ignored his begging for food.

Het jong bedelde, maar kreeg niets toegestopt van papa.

 Look, this is how you can get your own meal!

Kijk, zo vang je zelf je maaltijd!

 Paying attention :)

Hij let goed op :)

 Then daddy left...

Vader ging een eindje verder...

and the little one started digging for ants.  Lesson learned.

Sympathy Cards

I needed several sympathy cards lately...

De laatste tijd had ik meerdere rouwkaartjes nodig...

I used a Hero Arts stamp to stamp a Distress Oxide background for the flower stamp.  The flower was stamped with black Archival ink, and colored with pencils.

Een oudere Hero Arts stempel als achtergrond afgedrukt met Distress Oxide inkten.  De bloem werd met zwarte Archival inkt afgedrukt en met potloden ingekleurd.
