Darkroom Door - Spiral Notebook #3

Here's another card I made for Darkroom Door, using the new Spiral Notebook stamp. 

Nog een kaartje dat ik voor Darkroom Door maakte met de nieuwe Spiral Notebook stempel.

I wanted to stamp an 'open notebook', so I needed a stamp positioner.  I used my Misti and a piece of acetate.  I used washi tape on the edges, so I could find it on my craft table :)

Ik wou proberen om een open notaboekje te stempelen, dus had ik mijn Misti nodig en een vel acetaat.  Op de randen plakte ik washi tape, zodat ik het makkelijk kon vinden op mijn tafel :)

First I stamped the right hand page onto white cardstock.  Next I placed the acetate in my Misti and stamped the notebook onto the acetate.  So I was able to position the cardstock in the right place below the acetate to stamp the left hand page (after removing the acetate of course).  This way the binding rings line up perfectly.

Eerst de rechter pagina gestempeld op wit kaartkarton.  Daarna gebruikte ik de Misti om de stempel op acetaat af te drukken.  Zo kon ik het kaartkarton op de juiste plek onder het acetaat schuiven om de linker pagina te stempelen (nadat ik het acetaat wegnam natuurlijk).  De ringen van de binding vallen precies op elkaar.

Next I stamped the lines, the qoute and the stars.  I sponged with Distress Inks to get rainbow colors.  I glued the notebook onto a white card and added the stars.

Daarna de lijnen uit de Calendar set gestempeld.  De regenboogkleuren met Distress Inkten gesponst, het boekje op een witte kaart geplakt.  Met een citaat en sterren maakte ik de kaart verder af.

Red & Green

Creating a pattern in red and green.

Wie mijn blog volgt herinnert zich misschien het papier dat ik een tijd geleden maakte in roze.  Ik vond nog een klein overgebleven stukje, maar je kan het originele blogbericht HIER zien.

I wanted to try traditional Christmas colors this time.

Nu wou ik hetzelfde proberen in traditionele kerstkleuren.

First I sponged with Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn through the Darkroom Door stencil.

Eerst met Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn gesponst door een Darkroom Door stencil.

I used my heat tool to dry the green layer completely before I sponged with Barn Door.

De groene laag goed gedroogd met de heat tool, dan met Barn Door gesponst.

I used a white gel pen to add the fine lines.

Met een witte gelpen de fijne lijntjes aangebracht.

Creating Patterns in Pink

Black & White - 372

 This week's black & white card is a 1 layer card.

Deze week werd het een 1-laags zwart-wit kaartje.

 I used a die to add a decorative edge to the card.

Met een stans gaf ik de kaart een decoratieve rand.

I used a Karen Burniston die to cut the edge.  Notice that the card is larger than the die.  Makes the next steps easier.

Een stans van Karen Burniston gebruikt om de rand te snijden.  De kaart is langer dan de stans, dat maakt het makkelijker voor de volgende stappen.

 Turn the card and apply glue to the edge.

Keer de kaart om en breng lijm aan op de rand.

 Fold the card to glue the right hand edge together.  

Plooi de kaart dubbel om de rechter rand aan elkaar te plakken.

 Stamp the card front.  Easy, because the card stays closed.

Bestempel de kaart.  Dat gaat nu makkelijk omdat de kaart dicht blijft.

Cut off a strip at the top and bottom of the card.  The card can be opened now and both edges match perfectly.

Boven- en onderaan een strookje afsnijden.  De kaart kan nu geopend worden, en de randen passen perfect in elkaar.

Perfect Handcut Tags

I love making tags.  Although I own several dies to cut tags, I often cut them using a ruler and craft knife.  Here are a few simple tips to get a perfect handcut tag.

Ik hou ervan om labels te maken.  Alhoewel ik daarvoor enkele stanzen heb, snijd ik ze toch vaak gewoon met behulp van een snijlat en hobbymes.  Een paar eenvoudige tips om ze perfect te snijden:

It is not easy to get both top corners even.  I used to make a paper template, to cut the corners, but always lost it.  Lately I started using one of Tim's layering stencils, and just cut off the triangles in the corners.

Het is niet makkelijk om de hoekjes bovenaan gelijk te snijden.  Vroeger maakte ik daarvoor een papieren malletje, maar dat was telkens zoek als ik het nodig had.  De laatste tijd gebruik ik één van Tim's layering stencils, makkelijk om met een schaar de driehoekjes weg te knippen.

Then I use my cutting mat to mark the centre of the tag.

Het midden aanduiden, dat gaat makkelijk op de snijmat.

Punch a hole.

Het gaatje ponsen.

To make the reinforcement ring, punch a hole in the cardstock of your choice.  Use the same punch as before.

Om het verstevigingsringetje te maken pons je een gaatje in het gewenste kaartkarton.  Gebruik daarvoor weer dezelfde pons als daarnet voor het label.

Use a circle punch to cut out the ring.  Mine is about 1/2"

Pons het ringetje uit met een cirkelpons.  Deze hier is 12 mm.

Versamark & Ecoline

I always love the bright colors of Talens Ecoline inks.  They are great for backgrounds and for writing, but I wanted to be able to stamp with them too.

A few days ago I got the idea of turning a very old Versamark inkpad  into a multicolored inkpad with these liquid inks.

Ik hou van de felle Talens Ecoline kleuren.  Maar omdat de inkt vloeibaar is kan je er eigenlijk niet mee stempelen.

Een paar dagen geleden kreeg ik het idee om een heel oud Versamark inktkussen te gebruiken om er Ecoline inkt op te druppelen, en zo een veelkleurig stempelkussen te maken.

Christmas Card Saver

Just like last year, I made an album to save my received Christmas cards, after seeing this post on Deze is ook leuk. On the cover I used a Darkroom Door stamp: Christmas Word Block

Net zoals vorig jaar, maakte ik weer een album, na dit blogbericht gezien te hebben bij Deze is ook leuk, om mijn ontvangen kerstkaartjes te bewaren. Mijn werkwijze een beetje veranderd dit jaar.

Op de kaft stempelde ik de Christmas Word Block van Darkroom Door.

Last year's album was made with ribbon, this year I used binding rings.

Vorig jaar haalde ik lint door de gaatjes, nu heb ik ringen gebruikt.

I used watercolor paper and frosted clear document covers.

Kaft gemaakt met dik aquarelpapier en doorzichtige frosted covers.

I attached a strip of black cardstock to punch the holes.

Een strookje zwart karton aan de kaarten bevestigd om de gaatjes in te maken.

Works for all sizes. Glassine envelopes are used for tags and photo cards.

Kan voor elke maat. Tags en fotokaartjes gingen in een doorzichtige envelop.

I also used envelopes for cards with delicate punched edges.

Voor kaartjes met een delicate geponste rand gebruikte ik enveloppen.
