Inspiration Wednesday - #15

 Another spread finished in my Inspiration Wednesday art journal.  I used thick gesso and stencils to do the textured flowers.

Weer een pagina afgemaakt in mijn Inspiration Wednesday art journal.  Voor de bloemen gebruikte ik stencils en gesso.

 Joint tape and punched inchies add more texture.

Art Journal Makeover

A new fabric cover I made for my Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

Voor mijn Inspiration Wednesday art journal maakte ik een kaft van stof.

  

Early 2015 I subscribed to Donna Downey's  Inspiration Wednesday 2015 online workshops.  I started in this Dylusions art journal.

Begin 2015 schreef ik me in voor de Inspiration Wednesday 2015 online workshops van Donna Downey.  Ik begon in dit Dylusions art journal.

I didn't realize how bulky the spreads would be.  I couldn't close the journal anymore, and still had to finish several spreads.  Now I understand why Donna's journals have fabric covers.  I decided to take the journal apart, but was not sure if it would work.
Ik was me er niet van bewust dat het journal zo dik zou worden dat het niet meer dicht kon.  Nu begrijp ik waarom Donna's journals een stoffen kaft hebben.  Ik besloot om mijn journal uit elkaar te halen, al was ik niet zeker dat het zou lukken.

I have cut it in half, attached 3 signatures to each other with a few stitches, covered the spine with tape and painted the first and last page.
Het journal doormidden gesneden, de eerste 3 katernen maakte ik met een paar steken aan elkaar vast.  Tape op de rug geplakt en daarna de eerste en laatste bladzijde geschilderd.

After watching this video I decided to make a fabric cover.  Here I was testing paint and pens on fabric.
Eerst bekeek ik deze video, daarna ging ik aan de slag om zelf een kaft uit stof te maken.  Ik deed een test om te zien welke verf en pennen ik zou gebruiken.

I painted stripes, used stencils, stamps and pens.  The tree was stamped with black gesso.

Strepen geschilderd met acrylverf, stencils.  Stempels en pennen gebruikt.  Om de boom te stempelen gebruikte ik zwarte gesso.

I chose this leather ribbon to bind the jounal.

Het journal is gebonden met lederen lint.

I had to use a small drill to get through all the layers.

Om door alle lagen heen te geraken moest ik wel de boormachine gebruiken.

I still need to find the perfect button.
Nu nog een gepaste knoop vinden.

The dark green and blue are Caran d' Ache paints, they are a bit shimmery.

De donkergroene en -blauwe verf zijn van Caran d' Ache.  Ze glanzen een beetje.

Then I decided to use the 3 leftover signatures of my Dylusions journal too, because I love the paper and the size.
Daarna heb ik de overige 3 katernen nog losgesneden, en op dezelfde manier ingebonden.  Ik vind het mooi papier om op te werken, en de maat is ideaal voor mij.  

I made a few pictures while I was binding the second part of my journal.

Terwijl ik dit tweede deel inbond, maakte ik er een paar foto's van.

 This part can go inside the fabric cover later too.
Dat tweede deel kan er later nog bij in de stoffen kaft.

Painted flowers in my Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

Bloemen geschilderd in mijn Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

This spread started with a coat of black gesso.

Eerst een laag zwarte gesso aangebracht.

Then I had a go at painting flowers with acrylic paint.

Daarna geprobeerd om bloemen te schilderen met acrylverf.

Fine dots and lines are done with Dina Wakley's paint tubes, with a fine tip applicator attached.

De dunne lijntjes en stipjes deed ik met verftuben van Dina Wakley, waar een fine tip applicator op gezet werd.

I used a lot of colors.

Veel verschillende kleurtjes gebruikt.

After making so many bulky spreads, my art journal can't be closed anymore.  I hope to show you next Wednesday how I solved that.

Ondertussen is mijn art journal zo dik geworden dat het niet meer dicht kan.  Hoe ik dat probleem aanpak hoop ik volgende week woensdag te tonen.

A new spread in my Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

Weer een spread klaar in mijn Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

Background was done with gesso and acrylic paints.

Voor de achtergrond gebruikte ik gesso en acrylverf.

I was not brave enough to use black spray ink, as Donna Downey did, instead I used these stencils with black gesso.

In plaats van met zwarte spray inkt te werken zoals Donna Downey, gebruikte ik zwarte gesso met deze stencils.

A Neocolor crayon was used to add shadow.

Met een Neocolor krijtje schaduw aangebracht.

Inspiration Wednesday - #12

 I'm trying to catch up with Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday 2015.

Ik heb nog een paar lesjes van Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday 2015 in te halen.

I used a palette knife and acrylic paint to do the flowers.   Darkroom Door's French Script Texture stamp was used with Archival ink.  I also used Archival ink with Donna Downey's Scribble Script Stencil, and white acrylic paint with the Dot Fade Stencil.

De bloemen deed ik met acrylverf en een paletmes.  De French Script stempel van Darkroom Door werd met Archival inkt afgedrukt, dat lukt goed op een acryl achtergrond.  Voor Donna Downey's Scribble Script stencil gebruikte ik ook Archival inkt, voor de witte bolletjes de Dot Fade stencil met witte acrylverf.

On this spread I finally used the Faber Castell Gelatos from my stash.

Eindelijk mijn Faber Castell Gelatos in gebruik genomen voor deze spread.

I was not brave enough to write words, instead I chose this quote stamp from Darkroom Door.  I stamped with black Archival ink.

In plaats van een handgeschreven tekst koos ik deze tekststempel van Darkroom Door, afgedrukt met zwarte Archival inkt.

It is a messy spread again, a collage made with clothes labels, tape, corrugated cardboard, tissue paper, paper doily, calendar pages, ...

Het is weer een rommelige spread geworden.  Een collage gemaakt met kledinglabels, tape, ribkarton, tissuepapier, taartkantje, oude kalender, ...

Layers of heavy gel medium, gesso and acrylic paint.

Laagjes van heavy gel medium, gesso en acrylverf.

Stencils and acrylic paint were used to do the circles and words.

Voor de rondjes en tekst werden stencils en acrylverf gebruikt.
