I made this card for Lisa Spangler's "Scribble This" challenge: White Color Balance. Lisa is sharing photography tips and trics. Fantastic idea! I'm looking forward to learning more about my camera. Thanks a lot Lisa!
Dit kaartje heb ik gemaakt voor Lisa Spangler's "Scribble This" uitdaging: White Color Balance. Lisa geeft allerlei tips en truukjes over fotografie. Ik vind het geweldig, en hoop meer uit mijn camera te halen. Heel erg bedankt Lisa!

This is how my white card looks using custom white balance setting. The lighting here is a energy saving light (compact fluorescent light). It shows much more texture than my usual photos (see last one in this post). I had to adjust the brightness just a little bit in photoshop. But the colors are great. Below are a few other settings.
Zo ziet de kaart er uit met aangepaste witbalans. De foto is genomen onder een spaarlamp (compact fluorescentielamp). Je ziet veel meer detail (vergelijk met de laatste foto in deze post). Ik heb in photoshop alleen de helderheid een beetje verhoogd, de kleuren waren prima. Hieronder zie je een paar andere standaard instellingen:

Birthday tag - Tulips

I stamped the tulips with Distress Ink #Aged Mahogany on Talens Ecoline background. Tag is cut from Color Core cardstock. Border is embossed in the Cuttlebug and sanded.
De tulpen zijn met Distress Inkt #Aged Mahogany gestempeld op ecolinepapier. De tag is uit Color Cord kaartkarton gesneden, een boord geëmbossed in de Cuttlebug, daarna geschuurd.

A set of "home sweet home" mini labels, on a ball chain from Tim Holtz' idea-ology collection.. I colored the tags with Distress Ink on a non-stick craft sheet. Words are from KI Memories paper #Jack+Abby Words (Love, Elsie).

Een verzameling mini labels met als thema "home sweet home", bij elkaar gehouden met een kettinkje uit de Tim Holtz idea-ology collectie. De labeltjes zijn gekleurd met Distress inkt op een non-stick craft sheet. Woorden zijn uit scrappapier van KI Memories #Jack+Abby Words (Love, Elsie)

Sunday Scraps - 17

Four shades of green (lime, aqua, grass, hunter) scraps are used to punch out squares.  I used stamps from Art Journey on the squares.  Stamped label is from Hero Arts.  Inside the album are 6 lime green envelopes, used as pages/pockets.  Still thinking about a title or image  on the label, and things to put in the pockets/envelopes.

Vier tinten groen (gifgroen, aqua, grasgroen, jagersgroen) uit de restjes gekozen, vierkantjes geponst en er Art Journey stempels op gebruikt.  Het label is een Hero Arts stempel.  De pagina's binnenin zijn gemaakt met 6 gifgroene enveloppen, maar die zijn nog niet gevuld.   Er komt nog een titel of afbeelding op het label. 

Make a Moo or Two - Music Instruments

My entry for this week's theme on Make a Moo or Two: Music instruments. I stamped on Ecoline background.  The harp, sheet music stamp and edges are heat embossed.
Mijn bijdrage voor het thema muziekinstrumenten bij Make a Moo or Two.  De harp, muzieknoten en randjes zijn geëmbossed.

This morning I colored a bunch of mini tags, using Distress Ink and a mister on a non-stick craft sheet.
Vanmorgen een aantal labeltjes gekleurd, met Distress Inkt en water op een non-stick craft sheet.

Randjes bijgekleurd.

I started decorating 1 tag. The pillow stamps are from Odd Bird Planet's Fairytale Kit. Word is cut out form Love, Elsie's designer paper.

Voorlopig begin gemaakt met 1 labeltje. De kussen stempels zijn uit de Sprookjeskit van Odd Bird Planet. Woordje geknipt uit een vel scrappapier van Love, Elsie.
Wordt vervolgd...

Saturday's Workout - Sparkling

My card for Saturday's Workout challenge: Sparkling. Card size is 5" x 5".

The stamp is a freebie, found it in my latest order from Art Journey. I heat embossed it, and colored it with pearlescent paint from Yasutomo.
De stempel was een freebie, zat in mijn bestelling van Art Journey. Geëmbossed en met pearlescent waterverf van Yasutomo (= bij Art Journey verkrijgbaar) ingekleurd.

Sunday Scraps - 16

Today I wanted to do the serendipity technique to use up some scraps.
Vandaag koos ik de serendipity techniek om weer wat restjes te verwerken.

Nestabilities and and a square punch were used. The scalloped border was in my stash too :)
Nestabilities en een vierkante pons gebruikt. De geschulpte rand vond ik ook tussen de restjes :)

I used all kind of stamped left-overs, glued the torn pieces on cardstock using a gluestick. I learned from the past to make these serendipity sheets not too big, because you only use small parts of it. It looks quite busy if you use large pieces.

Allerlei gestempelde restjes in stukken gescheurd, en met een plakstift op een stuk kaartkarton geplakt. Ik heb geleerd om deze serendipity vellen niet te groot te maken, omdat je er maar kleine stukjes van gebruikt. Het ziet er te druk uit als je grote delen gaat gebruiken.

I overstamped the glued pieces with a large background stamp from Hero Arts.

The flower was stamped, heat embossed and cut out with scissors. I used a blade to cut in the corners between the petals. This little handy tool was used to pull the thread through the flower. I used it on the tag too, to put the wooden bead in place.

De bloem is gestempeld, geëmbossed en met een schaartje uitgeknipt. In de hoekjes tussen de bloemblaadjes heb ik een mesje gebruikt. Om de draad door de bloem te halen, en de houten kraal aan de tag te bevestigen gebruikte ik dit kleine handige gereedschap.

Thank you card and label

Coordinating Thank You card and label. I embossed a piece of cardstock in the Cuttlebug and colored it roughly with Twin Color acrylic paint. Cut strips and used them to create a "trellis" pattern.
Bij elkaar passende kaart en label. Een stuk cardstock geëmbossed in de Cuttlebug, ruw geverfd met Twin Color acrylverf. In reepjes gesneden en er een raster mee gevormd.

I used double sided adhesive foil (orange backing on the photo) to attach the fabric to vellum. I used Briliance ink to stamp the flower on fabric. Cut them out. It won't fray because of the foil and vellum.
Dubbelzijdige plakfolie (oranje schutvel op de foto) gebruikt om het stof op vellum te plakken. Bloemen gestempeld met Brilliance inkt en uitgeknipt. Door het plakfolie en vellum rafelt het stof niet.

Recycled glass jars

I've been saving/recycling these jars for a while now. They are perfect for storing buttons. I used decorative tape on one of them, just to see how it looks.
Ben al een tijdje deze glazen potjes aan't bewaren/recycleren. Ik vond ze te mooi om in de glasbak te gooien. Leuk voor knoopjes en zo. Decoratieve tape geplakt op het "gele" potje, gewoon om te proberen hoe het er uit ziet.

To get rid of the capers' smell, I tried several things. I rubbed the lid with tooth paste, I've put ground coffee beans in the jars, rubbed the lid with perfumed oil,...
Om de geur van de kappertjes kwijt te geraken heb ik een paar dingen geprobeerd. De dekseltjes ingesmeerd met tandpasta, gemalen koffie in de potjes laten staan, dekseltjes ingesmeerd met parfumolie...

So far the ground coffee beans work best. I've cut up dryer sheets to put in the lids. I will keep those in place for a while. I would love the get more tips :) I've heard that vanilla should work too?
De gemalen koffiebonen werken tot nu toe het beste. Voorlopig laat ik de in stukken gesneden droogtrommeldoekjes nog zitten. Wie weet nog meer tips? Naar't schijnt werkt vanille ook prima.
De potjes zijn in België o.a. te koop bij Delhaize.

Mini Card - Ladybird

A quick and easy mini card, size is 3" x 3" : Ecoline background from my stash, heat embossed image, colored with twinkling H2Os.
Een snel en makkelijk minikaartje, afmeting is 7,5 x 7,5 cm. Ecoline achtergrondje uit mijn voorraad, afdruk geëmbossed en met twinkling H2Os ingekleurd.

Ladybird stamp from Maryse Carrier (she stopped making stamps unfortunately), Twinkling H2Os, going out of business too :( I'm happy to have several of them.
Lieveheersbeestje is een stempel van Maryse Carrier, ze maakt helaas geen stempels meer, Twinkling H2Os (worden binnenkort ook niet meer gemaakt). Gelukkig heb ik nog wat kleurtjes verzameld, ze gaan heel lang mee.

MagentaTulip

The tulip stamp is an oldie by Magenta.  I think a lot of stampers still have this one. I stamped on Bazzill kraft cardstock and colored with pencils.  I stamped the squares with Versamark, heat embossed with clear embossingpowder.

De tulp is een oude stempel van Magenta.  Ik denk dat heel wat stempelaars die nog altijd hebben.  Ik vind hem nog steeds mooi.  Gestempeld op Bazzill kraft cardstock en ingekleurd met potloden.  De vierkantjes zijn met Versamark gestempeld en kleurloos geëmbossed.

Rubber by the ounce

You make life sweet

First I stamped the boy and starfish, masked and sponged the background with Colorbox Fluid Chalk #Azurite & Amber Clay. I used the same inks to stamp the pattern. Images are colored with pencils.
Eerst heb ik de jongen en zeester gestempeld, gemaskerd om de achtergrond te sponzen met Colorbox Fluid Chalk #Azurite & Amber Clay. Met dezelfde inkt ook het patroon gestempeld. Ingekleurd met potloden.

Sunday Scraps - 15

Using up scraps again. It's another tag. I used a left over from this card, a glimmer mist, distress ink and gesso background.
Weer restjes gebruikt om een tag te maken, een overschotje van deze kaart, een achtergrondje van glimmer mist, distress inkt en gesso.

I punched vellum flowers (click) and embossed the blue cardstock in the Cuttlebug.
Vellum bloemetjes geponst (klik) en het lichtblauwe kaartkarton door de Cuttlebug gehaald.

This is the piece I started with. I overstamped with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed. I sponged with Colorbox Fluid Chalk (it was used to stamp the blue text), and I noticed the original stamping came off. So I rubbed it with a baby wipe. Inked and heat embossed the edges.
Met dit restje ben ik begonnen. De tekst opnieuw met Versafine Onyx Black gestempeld en geëmbossed. Bij het sponzen met Colorbox Fluid Chalk inkt, verdween de oorspronkelijke tekst die met dezelfde inkt gestempeld was. Alles met een babydoekje afgewreven, de randjes geïnkt en geëmbossed.
