Delicious Berries

Blackbirds are eating the ivy berries in the garden.  After many attempts I could finally capture this one.

Al veel pogingen gedaan om de merels te fotograferen terwijl ze de klimopbessen in te tuin verorberen.  Deze week is het eindelijk gelukt.

Inspiration Wednesday - #14

This spread started with a coat of black gesso.

Eerst een laag zwarte gesso aangebracht.

Then I had a go at painting flowers with acrylic paint.

Daarna geprobeerd om bloemen te schilderen met acrylverf.

Fine dots and lines are done with Dina Wakley's paint tubes, with a fine tip applicator attached.

De dunne lijntjes en stipjes deed ik met verftuben van Dina Wakley, waar een fine tip applicator op gezet werd.

I used a lot of colors.

Veel verschillende kleurtjes gebruikt.

I used:

Black gesso:  Ranger

White gesso:  Talens Amsterdam

Acrylic paint:  Talens Amsterdam, Caran d'Ache, Dina Wakley

After making so many bulky spreads, my art journal can't be closed anymore.  I hope to show you next Wednesday how I solved that.

Ondertussen is mijn art journal zo dik geworden dat het niet meer dicht kan.  Hoe ik dat probleem aanpak hoop ik volgende week woensdag te tonen.

Before & After #1

 A few weeks ago I made this tagbook in black and white (see photo below).  I added colorful confetti and tape, because I sent it to a 4 year old boy.

Een paar weken geleden maakte ik dit labelboekje in zwart-wit.  Om het naar een jongetje van 4 jaar op te sturen voor zijn verjaardag, stempelde ik er kleurige confetti bij, en plakte tape op de randen.

Darkroom Door ATC Swap - Tied Up With String

 My ATCs for Darkroom Door's monthly swap.

Mijn ATCs voor de maandelijkse ruil bij Darkroom Door.

 The theme for February is "Tied up with string"

Op de februari ATCs moet een touwtje gebruikt worden.

 I stamped the Horse Photo Stamp with Archival ink and colored the image with Neocolors and pencils.

De fotostempel Horse werd met Archival inkt afgedrukt, en met Neocolors en potloden ingekleurd.

Black & White - 273

I bought this Geranium stamp yesterday, and just had to use it on a quick mini card.

Gisteren kocht ik deze geranium stempel, er moest gewoon een eenvoudig minikaartje mee gemaakt worden vandaag.

I used:

Two Hearts

 These hearts are made out of kraft packaging paper.
Harten geknipt uit bruin inpakpapier.

The hearts were decorated with gesso, acrylic paint and stamps.  I used a cap to stamp the small circles.
 Ze zijn bewerkt met gesso, acrylverf en stempels.  Met een dopje werden de kleine rondjes gestempeld.

 I stitched two layers together, filled the hearts with fibre fill.  I found matching eyelets in my stash.

  Twee lagen op elkaar gestikt, met een laagje wattine ertussen.  Nestelringen in de juiste kleur uit mijn voorraad.

Inspiration Wednesday - #13

A new spread in my Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

Weer een spread klaar in mijn Inspiration Wednesday art journal.

Background was done with gesso and acrylic paints.

Voor de achtergrond gebruikte ik gesso en acrylverf.

I was not brave enough to use black spray ink, as Donna Downey did, instead I used these stencils with black gesso.

In plaats van met zwarte spray inkt te werken zoals Donna Downey, gebruikte ik zwarte gesso met deze stencils.

A Neocolor crayon was used to add shadow.

Met een Neocolor krijtje schaduw aangebracht.

Perfect Handcut Tags

I love making tags.  Although I own several dies to cut tags, I often cut them using a ruler and craft knife.  Here are a few simple tips to get a perfect handcut tag.

Ik hou ervan om labels te maken.  Alhoewel ik daarvoor enkele stanzen heb, snijd ik ze toch vaak gewoon met behulp van een snijlat en hobbymes.  Een paar eenvoudige tips om ze perfect te snijden:

It is not easy to get both top corners even.  I used to make a paper template, to cut the corners, but always lost it.  Lately I started using one of Tim's layering stencils, and just cut off the triangles in the corners.

Het is niet makkelijk om de hoekjes bovenaan gelijk te snijden.  Vroeger maakte ik daarvoor een papieren malletje, maar dat was telkens zoek als ik het nodig had.  De laatste tijd gebruik ik één van Tim's layering stencils, makkelijk om met een schaar de driehoekjes weg te knippen.

Then I use my cutting mat to mark the centre of the tag.

Het midden aanduiden, dat gaat makkelijk op de snijmat.

Punch a hole.

Het gaatje ponsen.

To make the reinforcement ring, punch a hole in the cardstock of your choice.  Use the same punch as before.

Om het verstevigingsringetje te maken pons je een gaatje in het gewenste kaartkarton.  Gebruik daarvoor weer dezelfde pons als daarnet voor het label.

Use a circle punch to cut out the ring.  Mine is about 1/2"

Pons het ringetje uit met een cirkelpons.  Deze hier is 12 mm.

Sunday Scraps - 346

 Here's a notepad I made today.

Een klein notaboekje gemaakt vandaag.

 A sheet of paper, that what used as a palette when I was working in my art journal, was used to decorate the covers.  I over stamped it with Darkroom Door's Dots Background stamp, using Distress Paints.  The Polka Dots Texture stamps was stamped with black Archival ink.

 Een vel papier, dat ik de voorbije week gebruikte als palet toen ik in mijn art journal werkte, is als achtergrond gebruikt.  Ik stempelde er de Dots Background van Darkroom Door overheen met Distress Paints, en de Polka Dots Texture stempel met zwarte Archival inkt.

 The corrugated cardboard and pages were in my stash.  I used bookbinding glue to adhere the stamped paper to the cardboard.  Used my Bind-it-All to punch the holes and turn it into a notepad.

Het ribkarton en blaadjes komen uit mijn voorraad (overschot van een eerder gemaakt boekje).  Met boekbinderslijm het bestempelde papier op het ribkarton geplakt, en de Bind-it-All nog eens uit de kast gehaald om er dit boekje mee te maken.
