Relax

I started these pages a while ago, but was not too happy about the background, especially the dark parts.  But today I was inspired to finish it.

Een tijdje geleden begon ik aan deze pagina's in mijn Dylusions journal.  Maar de achtergrond werd niet wat ik verwacht had, vooral de donkere delen stonden mij niet aan.  Maar vandaag wou ik er iets mee doen.

First I stamped these flowers, using black Archival ink.  To color them I used Scribble Sticks.

Eerst de bloemen gestempeld met zwarte Archival inkt, ingekleurd met Scribble Sticks.

The flowers needed a few coats to cover the white gesso.

Er waren enkele lagen nodig om de witte gesso te bedekken.

A black pen was used to draw the stems.  Next I stamped the leaves, colored them with Scribble Sticks too.  For the weeds I used a stamp from the Nature Walk set.  Lots of white dots, done with gesso and a toothpic

Met een zwart pennetje de stengels getekend.  Daarna de blaadjes gestempeld en ook met Scribble Sticks ingekleurd.  Een onkruidstempel uit de Nature Walk set met zwart Archival inkt afgedrukt.  De witte stipjes deed ik met gesso en een tandenstoker.

I chose a few words from the Wellbeing stencil to trace with a black pen.

Voor de woorden gebruikte ik de Wellbeing stencil met een zwart pennetje.

 Love to use the new Abstract 01 stamp to frame a scene.

De Abstract 01 stempel gebruikt om een tafereeltje in te lijsten.

 First I stamped the Abstract 01 stamp using Scribble Sticks.  Next I colored my paper with Blendable Dye Ink Buttercup. 

Eerst rondom gestempeld met de Abstract 01 stempel en Scribble Sticks.  Daarna het papier gekleurd met Blendable Dye Ink Buttercup.

 The birdhouse and twigs were stamped with Wendy Vecchi's Archival Ink Peat Moss.  I used pencils to color the birdhouse and I also added blossoms to the twigs.

Het nestkastje en de takjes stempelde ik met Archival inkt Peat Moss.  Met potloden het nestkastje ingekleurd, en de takjes voorzien van bloesems.

 Stamped some twigs inside too.

Binnenin ook enkele takjes gezet.

I stamped the birds on the card, and once more onto smooth watercolor paper to cut out.

Darkroom Door - Bottles Stamps #2

 On this card I used old and new Darkroom Door stamps together.  Darkroom Door has many flower stamps to use with the new Bottles stamp set.  Here I used the tulips from the Full Bloom Vol 1 set. 

Een mix van oude en nieuwe Darkroom Door stempels op deze kaart.  Keuze genoeg in bloemenstempels bij Darkroom Door.  Hier gebruikte ik de mooie tulpen uit de Full Bloom Vol 1 stempelset met de Bottles stempelset

 I stamped the bottle and tulip onto watercolor paper using black Archival Ink.  Two more tulips were stamped to cut out later.  I watercolored with Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks, bij picking color from the sticks with a wet brush.

De fles en tulp werden met zwarte Archival inkt op aquarelpapier afgedrukt.  Ik stempelde nog 2 tulpen om uit te knippen.  Alles ingekleurd met Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks.  Daarvoor nam ik met een nat penseel wet kleur van de sticks.

 While the piece was left to dry, I've made a bunch of masks.

Terwijl mijn kaart lag te drogen maakte ik een aantal maskertjes met de flessen.

 I covered the bottle and tulip with masks to stamp the Spanish Background with Distress Oxide Ink.  I removed the mask from the bottle.  And because I used my Misti stamping tool I was able to restamp the Spanish Tiles without reinking, to get a subtle print 'behind' the glass.

De fles en tulp bedekte ik met een maskertje om de Spanish Tiles achtergrond te stempelen met Distress Oxide inkt.  Het maskertje van de fles weer weggenomen.  Omdat ik mijn Misti gebruikt had kon ik de achtergrond nog eens stempelen zonder opnieuw te beïnkten.  Zo kreeg ik een subtiele print 'doorheen' het glas.

To finish off the card I stamped part of the Thank You Sentiment Stamps with black Archival Ink.

Het kaartje verder af gemaakt met een deel van de Thank You Sentiment stempels, afgedrukt met zwarte Archival inkt.

Harvesting Poppy Seeds

Long ago we received poppy seeds to sow in the garden.  The past weeks I have been harvesting seeds.

Lang geleden kregen we klaprozenzaadjes van iemand, om in de tuin te zaaien.  De voorbije weken heb ik zelf zaadjes geoogst om uit te delen.

They return every year on sunny spots in the garden.

Ze komen elk jaar terug op de zonnigste plekken in de tuin.

I love their seed pods especially.  As soon as the little doors below the crown have opened, it is time to harvest the seeds.

Ze bloeien maar kort, niet erg, want de zaaddozen vind ik eigenlijk mooier dan de bloemen. Zodra de deurtjes bovenaan opengaan is het tijd om de zaadjes te oogsten.

The seed pods inspired me to make the Carved Pods stamps for Darkroom Door.

  De zaaddozen stonden model voor de Carved Pods van Darkroom Door.  

I filled glassine envelopes with poppy seeds, closed the seed packets with washi tape.  A fun job to do on a sunny day.

De klaprozenzaadjes deed ik in glassine zakjes, dichtgeplakt met washi tape.  Een tof werkje op een zonnige dag.

I also stamped tags to go with each seed packet.  Of course I wanted to use the Carved Pods.

Bij elk pakje stempelde ik een label.  Daar gebruikte ik natuurlijk de stempelset Carved Pods voor.

On this tag I used Distress Markers to ink the stamp.
Op dit label gebruikte ik Distress Markers om de stempel te beïnkten.

I also stamped with Distress Oxide inks.

Ook Distress Oxide inkten gebruikt.

But most of the tags were stamped with Scribble Sticks.  I didn't want to stamp the frame, so I used a wet paint brush to apply water to the pod only,  and scribbled with the sticks to get color onto the stamp.

Maar de meeste labels werden met Scribble Sticks gestempeld.  Om enkel de zaaddozen te stempelen, zonder het lijstje er omheen, gebruikte ik een penseel om de stempel nat te maken waar nodig, om er daarna met Scribble Sticks kleur op aan te brengen.

I doodled with a black pen and added splatters using Scribble Sticks and a very wet brush.

Met een zwart pennetje de afdrukken bijgewerkt, en spatjes aangebracht met Scribble Sticks en een heel nat penseeltje.

Darkroom Door has lots of nice quote stamps to combine with the Carved Pods.  I used words from the Art De Fleur Vol 2 set, the Etched Flowers set and the Full Bloom Vol 2 stamp set.

Keuze genoeg voor bijpassende teksten bij Darkroom Door.  Ik koos tekststempels uit de Art De Fleur Vol 2 set, de Etched Flowers set en de Full Bloom Vol 2 set.

Meanwhile most of the seed packets and tags were handed out or sent to family and friends.  I still have a few left...
De zaadjes en labels werden ondertussen uitgedeeld of verstuurd aan familie en vrienden.  Er zijn nog enkele pakjes over...

I scribbled on the wet stamp to "ink" it.  And doodled with a black pen.  Darkroom Door has lots of great quotes.  This one is from the Full Bloom Vol 2 set.

Met de scribble sticks op de natgemaakte stempel gekribbeld om hem te "beïnkten".  Enkele nonchalante lijntjes erbij getekend met een zwart pennetje.  Bij Darkroom Door vind je heel wat mooie tekststempels.  Deze komt uit de Full Bloom Vol 2 set.

Darkroom Door - Garden Birds #4

A card I made for Darkroom Door, using the Garden Birds stamps.
I started with a thin coat of gesso, let it dry. The bird was stamped with black Archival ink. I used Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks to watercolor the bird, and to add a bit of color to the background
Deze kaart maakte ik voor Darkroom Door, met de Garden Birds stempelset.
Ik bracht eerst een dun laagje gesso aan.  De gesso goed laten drogen, en daarna de vogel met zwarte Archival inkt afgedrukt.  Met Scribble Sticks ingekleurd.  Ook de achtergrond alvast een beetje kleur gegeven.

I covered the bird with a mask, and used the large Circles stencil to sponge with Archival inks.  I also stamped the Swirls Texture stamp (a new one) using the same inks.  The poppy stems and words were stamped with black Archival ink. Shadow below the bird and poppies was done with a Scribble stick.

Het vogeltje bedekt met een maskertje om de achtergrond te sponzen.  Daarvoor gebruikte ik de grote Circles stencil van Darkroom Door met Archival inkten.  Dezelfde inkten gebruikt om de nieuwe Swirls texture stempel af te drukken.  De poppy stengels en tekst weer met zwarte inkt gestempeld.  Hier en daar wat schaduw aangebracht met een Scribble stick.

A card for all occasions.

Een kaartje voor veel gelegenheden.

I used this stamped bookpage that I made for my black and white series long ago (click), time to turn it into a card.

Dit bestempelde boekpapier kwam ik telkens tegen in mijn voorraad (klik), tijd om er een kaartje mee te maken.

I've cut a square, using Sizzix thinlits.

Een vierkant uitgestanst, met Sizzix thinlits.

Scribble Sticks were used to watercolor the image.  Worked well, because the book paper was coverec with gesso.

Met Scribble Sticks ingekleurd.  Dat lukte goed omdat er een laagje gesso op het boekpapier zat.

Finished off with these texture stamps from Darkroom Door.

 I think I have a new favorite flower stamp :)   I'm making ATCs with this stamp, trying different techniques.  (see the first one HERE)

I sprayed water onto the stamp, "inked" it with Scribble Sticks and overstamped with Archival Ink.

 Vlinders, bloemen en blaadjes gestempeld op dit labelboekje.

 I misted the stamps, "inked" them with Scribble Sticks and stamped  onto the tags.  I inked the stamps lightly with black Archival ink to over stamp the first impression.

De stempels lichtjes nat gespoten, en "beïnkt" met Scribble Sticks.  De eerste afdruk vaag overstempeld met zwarte Archival inkt.

 I sponged with these matching Distress Oxide inks.

Dezelfde kleuren Distress Oxide inkt gebruikt om te sponzen.
