European Robin

A few days ago, when I was outside with my camera, a robin landed on a pole in the garden, only 2 meters away from me.   I was able to take a few quick photos.

Een paar dagen geleden was ik in de tuin met mijn camera, toen plots een roodborstje neerstreek op een paal vlakbij, echt maar 2 meter bij me vandaan.  Ik kon snel een paar foto's maken, en weg was ie.

Later, when I uploaded the photos to my laptop I noticed that the bird was missing a leg.

Later, toen ik de foto's naar mijn laptop overbracht, merkte ik dat het vogeltje een pootje mist.

We have several robins in our garden this year.  But I recognize this one.  An earwig in his beak shows that there must be a little one somewhere to feed.  By now I recognize the voice of a little robin.

Dit jaar hebben we meerdere roodborstjes in de tuin.  Maar deze is heel herkenbaar, op 1 pootje.  Een oorworm in zijn bek, dus zit er ergens een jong te wachten op een hapje.  Ondertussen herken ik het geluid dat een jong roodborstje maakt.

Hier is het kleintje, verscholen tussen de bladeren van de hazelaar.  Helaas geen scherpe foto.

Black & White - 464

Roses on this week's black & white card.

Een zwart-wit kaart met rozen deze week.

I stamped the Roses photo stamp on a white folded card, using black Archival ink.

De rozen fotostempel op een witte kaart afgedrukt met zwarte Archival inkt.

To make the single rose stand out I wrapped a sheet of vellum around the card.  Glued the rose in place and added words from the same stamp set.

Om de roos beter uit te laten komen gebruikte ik een vellum omslag.  De roos opgeplakt en tekst uit dezelfde stempelset erbij gebruikt.

On this card I stamped over a gel print from this pile, using the beautiful flowers from Darkroom Door's Warm Wishes stamp set.

Een gelprint uit deze stapel als achtergrond gebruikt op deze kaart.  De mooie bloemen zijn uit de Warm Wishes stempelset van Darkroom Door.

I scribbled with a black and a white pen.

Met een zwart en wit pennetje gekrabbeld hier en daar.

Butterfly Card

First I stamped the butterflies on watercolor paper using black Archival ink, colored them with Distress Crayons and a waterbrush.

Eerst de vlinders op aquarelpapier afgedrukt met zwarte Archival inkt.  Ik kleurde ze in met Distress Crayons en een waterpenseel.

Next I used Distress Spray Stains to color the background, inspired by a recent video from Tim Holtz about Distress Crayons.  The crayons resist the spray inks. 

Daarna met Distress Spray Stains de achtergrond gedaan.  In een recente video van Tim Holtz zag ik dat de Spray Stains niet 'pakken' op de crayons.

Next I sponged with Distress Oxide Ink Broken China through the Mesh stencil.  I stamped the Fine Leaves wit black Archival ink.  To color these I used a Distress Crayon and a water brush.  As a final touch I stamped the French Script here and there, and inked the edges.

Daarna de Mesh Stencil gebruikt om met Distress Oxide Broken China te sponsen.  De Fine Leaves met zwarte Archival inkt afgedrukt met met een Distress Crayon en waterpenseel ingekleurd.  Tenslotte nog hier en daar de French Script afgedrukt en de randen gesponst.

Colorful Flower Ladies

 After I posted the Flower Lady image in black and white on Saturday, I wanted to try a version in color.  I ended up coloring 2 images.

In het blogbericht van afgelopen zaterdag toonde ik een zwart-wit versie van dit bloemenmeisje.  Maar ik wou ook een versie in kleur proberen.  Het werden er 2.

 I used a lot of pencils.

Heel wat kleurtjes gebruikt.

I used the Mixed Boxes stencil on all three to add some background.

Black & White - 463

Face stamps are not my cup of tea, maybe because I have no idea about how to to the shading.  But after seeing this tutorial on YouTube I wanted to give it a try.

Stempels van gezichten zijn niet echt mijn ding, misschien omdat ik geen idee heb hoe ik ze kan inkleuren.  Nadat ik op YouTube dit lesje zag, deed ik toch eens een poging.

Turning the nostrils from the stamped image into a nose was not easy :)

De gestempelde neusgaten in een complete neus veranderen was niet makkelijk :)

I used a stencil to draw the boxes around the head.

Behind the Garden Gate

 No time for cardmaking.  Instead I'm sharing some random photos from the past few days in our garden.  Verbena Orientalis is spreading well in the garden.  

Geen tijd gehad om kaartjes te maken.  Daarom enkele foto's die ik deze week maakte in de tuin.  De Verbena orientalis duikt overal op in de tuin.

Flowers on a Gel Print

De achtergrond voor deze kaart is een gelprint die uit deze stapel (klik)

The gel print had a dark line at the left hand side.  So I sponged the diamond shapes, using the Grunge Borders stencil from Darkroom Door with Archival ink.

Op de gelprint zat aan de linkerkant een donkere brayerlijn.  Met de Grunge Borders stencil van Darkroom Door en Archival inkt maakte ik daar een ruitpatroon overheen.

To stamp the flowers I used another Archival inkpad:  Orange Blossom.

De bloemen werden afgedrukt met Archival inkt Orange Blossom.

 Made this simple tag.  Darkroom Door feathers, stamped onto a brayered background from my stash.

Een eenvoudig label gemaakt.  Veren van Darkroom Door gestempeld, de achtergrond uit mijn voorraad werd met een brayer gedaan.

 I wanted a tag to match the left page in my faux leather mini planner.

Het label moest bij de linker pagina in mijn faux leather mini planner passen.
